Cetera Advisor Networks is currently searching for a talented and passionate Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will be a key player in the Cetera Advisor Networks Broker-Dealer accounting group. The position will be responsible for supporting various aspects of the monthly close and reporting of the financial results of the Broker-Dealer. The position will assist in implementing process improvements to help the team streamline and enhance efficiencies, promote the analysis and communication of results, and provide proactive customer service to business partners. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates well with team members and is eager to learn.

What you will do:

  • Assist in the monthly closing process, including preparation of journal entries, financial statements and related variance/account analysis
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and address any reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit deliverables for assigned broker dealers and consolidated entities
  • Participate in the identification, enhancement, and timely execution of internal controls
  • Support/participate in analysis of current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
  • Support other functions (e.g., FP&A, Technical Accounting) in requests and projects
  • Ad hoc requests as determined by management

What you will have:

  • Four year college degree in Accounting or related field
  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • One - two (1-2) years relevant accounting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, communication and follow-up skills
  • Prior working experience with Excel (proficient level)
  • Experience with Oracle and Blackline (or similar systems) preferred but not required
  • Prior experience in broker-dealer or financial services industry helpful but not required
