Accountant - Financial Reporting

Job Summary
This job performs various accounting activities in support of Fund Administration with a strong focus on Financial Reporting (e.g., regulatory, shareholder, board of directors, internal and external); requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of accounting principles and practices. Performs a wide range of detailed accounting and analysis pertaining to assigned area, accounts or department and assures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies, objectives and deadlines. Incumbents work independently and with peers and exercise professional judgment within assigned function.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Assists in the preparation of fund shareholder reports. This includes annual & semi-annual reports (schedules of investments, financial statements, notes to financial statements), prospectus reporting, and fact sheets.
- Prepares SEC regulatory reports (N-PORT, N-CEN, N-MFP) and other investment company/mutual fund related SEC filings within required timelines.
- Participates in the external audits of the Thrivent Mutual Funds, Series Funds and Core Funds.
- Compiles and validates data and disclosures for various internal reporting and reports for the Mutual Funds/Series Funds/Core Funds Board of Trustees/Directors.
- Supports research and process changes in response to regulatory developments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Audits, resolves, and reconciles values or balances to ensure no discrepancies exist that would cause inaccurate reporting.
- Improves and matures process documentation and internal controls.
- Participates in department projects.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and/or related.
- 0 to 3 plus years related experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations theory and practices.
- Experience in financial products and investment company/mutual fund industry a plus.
- Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
- Skill in preparing accurate and detailed reports on a timely basis.
- Proficiency in Excel and related Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Information
- This position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN or Appleton, WI a minimum of two days a week.
