What we need:

Mohawk is looking for an Accountant responsible for Flooring North America to assist with general accounting duties, Journal Entry preparation, working with internal control and updating control process documents, moderate to complex G/L account reconciliations, periodic and ad hoc reporting, and audit support.

What you'll do:

• Supports the finance organization with projects stretching across the entire company.
• Prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliation for accounts with greater complexity (including intercompany relationships, sensitive information such as bonuses, etc.) that are managed by the department. Research and document financial fluctuations.
• Work with internal controls and updating the CPDs (Control Process Documents) and working with internal/external auditors on SOX testing and remediation.
• Provide analysis of assigned accounts and financial impact of transactions.
• Gather and prepare audit documentation.
• Supports departmental goals and projects successfully.
• Remain current on department operating processes and compliance guidelines. Ensures work is done in accordance with processes, guidelines, and applicable regulations.

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline. Master's preferred
• 0 - 2 years of job specific work experience in corporate or multi-topic accounting environment or relevant public accounting experience
• Strong technical skill in finance, accounting and business performance analysis and modeling
• Experience developing effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
• Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets packages, financial and accounting application software.
• SAP experience preferred
• Project management experience in executing projects through implementation, across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines preferred.

What you're good at:

• Good oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills; ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting with internal and external customers, and senior management. The ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools especially Excel for analyzing data to provide to management for decision making.
• Ability to research more complex accounting topics and draw relevant conclusions to present to management.
• Willingness to learn from, and work with, diverse teams across functional areas.
• Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the organization
• Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and/or crisis situation and maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct
