Job Description
Position Summary:
Perform and coordinate accounting processes according to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and industry practices. Ensure accurate financial statements by monitoring and analyzing accounts on a frequent basis. Record journal entries and generate applicable analysis and reports. Assist with the implementation and execution of sound internal controls.
Essential Functions:• Fully participate in and support a timely and accurate monthly closing process, including preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and completing supporting schedules
o Take ownership of the accounting of one or two oils or protein facilities along with one or two outside warehouses o Ensure costing standards are accurate and kept up to date
o Mark to Market Experience recommended but not required
o Analyze accounting results and identify, explain and communicate variances with management
o Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts• Be pro-active in providing focused analysis to provide clarity related to financial results • Support field locations • Participate in any special project work and complete in an accurate and timely manner. Accept new opportunities as they develop to learn new skills • Be an engaged business partner by working with other departments including supply chain, FP&A, commercial & operations management • Assist with quarterly Purchase Price Variance analysis, reporting major variances to upper management • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages • Complete any required government reporting in a timely and accurate manner • Travel to facilities for additional support and training as needed • Other job duties as assigned
Skills/Experience Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
o 2-5 years of experience o Understand apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to the commodity business
o Proficient application of management and internal controls (SOX, COSO)
o Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise software is highly desirable
o Proficient in Microsoft Excel
o Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross functional teams, local and division management
