Job Description
This position will be hybrid out of the Madison, Wisconsin office.
As an Accountant IIÂ you will be responsible for performing accounting control related functions as well as financial reporting related activities.
- Prepare general ledger entries, primarily related to recording insurance activity and reserves
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts
- Work with internal and external business partners to investigate and clear reconciling items on a timely basis
- Prepare and analyze financial statement filings at month, quarter, and/or year end
- Prepare and analyze data relating to premium activity for internal tax business partners
- Coordinate and prepare data for external auditors and state regulators
- Assist in analyzing and testing data in conjunction with division projects
- Performs back-up functions and supports department responsibilities as required
Job Requirements:
- 4 year degree in Accounting or FinanceÂ
- Certifications are a plus
- 0-3 years experience in Accounting
- Understanding of reconciliation concepts and applications
- Experience in Excel
- Analytical thinking
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail (thorough and accurate)
- Good communicator
- Organized
- Ability to work efficiently and productively (using time wisely)
- Detail oriented

Additional Information:
- Heavy workload during quarter-end and year-end requiring additional commitment.
- Will work under two separate technical accounting frameworks: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) generic to all industries as well as Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) which is unique to the insurance industry.
