Accountant II
Job Description
Engages in activities related to financial analysis reporting and managing Blue Diamond Growers' Fixed Asset ledger. Applies accounting principles through reconciliation of key general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries. Partners closely with key internal stakeholders, other accountants, and operations personnel to support day-to-day activities.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Posts daily, monthly, and annual recurring transactions to the general ledger.
- Oversees financial analysis and reporting of Blue Diamond Growers' international subsidiaries.
- Consolidates parent company books, reconciles, and reviews trial balance maintained by third party accounting firms.
- Supports registration and required filings as required by foreign jurisdictions, recovery of local taxes incurred (VAT, GST, etc.), and tax preparation for various ancillary entities.
- Completes month-end procedures such as calculating estimates for prepaid assets, receivables and accruals of expenses.
- Records monthly expenses related to Blue Diamond Growers' operating and capital leases.
- Manages Fixed Assets once placed into service including depreciation runs, monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and associated expense, and management of disposals.
- Collects appropriate data for preparation of sales, use, and property tax returns.
- Prepares monthly cost center reports by business unit and distributes to various individuals within the organization.
- Prepares periodic reports and related analysis for internal and external customers.
- Engages in timely, accurate, and relevant financial information and general ledger account reconciliations for month-end close to ensure financial statements (internal and external) are prepared accurately, consistently, and in a timely fashion consistent with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Maintains open item managed general ledger balances within SAP through systematic reconciliations.
- Troubleshoots systematic and accounting issues that arise from daily and monthly job responsibilities.
- Applies an understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Executes ongoing and project specific SAP testing to evaluate accounting impact of configuration changes and updates prior to placing into production.
- Interfaces with various business units to ensure accounting activities are accurately reflected and properly flow through the SAP ERP system in accordance with GAAP.
- Liaises with Finance and Operations departments as well as Global Consumer and Global Ingredients Business Units for monthly reporting and ad-hoc inquiries.
- Assists management in identifying opportunities to streamline or implement new procedures to increase timeliness, efficiency, and improve the accuracy of financial records and reporting.
- Assists with audit coordination through preparation of year-end audit schedules.
- Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and participate in interdepartmental and cross-functional projects as necessary.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities as required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience Current GAAP knowledge.
- Previous experience with contemporary ERP systems, preferably SAP or comparable.
- Demonstrated analytical skillset and problem solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook); advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Visio/Access

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Office environment demands including frequent speaking both in person and over the phone; writing, reading files, reports and PC screen. Prolonged sitting at computer terminal. Regular vision concentration for reading and checking reports, forms and data entry.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical office environment with low levels of noise and fumes, adequate lighting and comfortable temperature. Use of 10-Key, computer, scanner, fax.
