Relay, a Raleigh-based product company, is looking to change the way we communicate. We've designed, built, and launched an entirely new product category -- a simple, rugged, internet-enabled smart-device and all the software that runs it -- that is disrupting the handheld radio industry for B2B clients and non-desk workers. Our innovative B2B product has achieved proven product-market fit with a user experience that solves real-world customer pain and unlocks new capabilities for them through our custom platform which includes purpose-built hardware including extra sensors, software on the device and in the network, and a growing API for integration.
We’re hiring for an Accountant II to join our Finance team at our Raleigh HQ located in North Hills.
We are currently working in a hybrid model with a mix of onsite, in person collaboration.
The Accountant II is a key member of the finance team. This position will be primarily responsible for reconciling and
reviewing inventory and COGS accounts, and collaborating with other business units on
inventory process implementation and process improvement. You'll also own reconciling and reviewing
fixed assets and related expense accounts, providing support and coverage for other team
members within the Finance department as necessary, and performing other accounting
duties and preparing other balance sheet reconciliations as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
● Lead the effort of annual inventory count including preparing and reconciling
inventory records
● Collaborate with Supply Chain in monitoring inventory transactions and
performing quarterly inventory valuation analysis (including preparation of LCM
and E&O analyses)
● Develop monthly COGS, shipping and freight analyses and present findings to
management
● Manage software capitalization process by ensuring all capitalized projects are
adhered with the Company’s capitalization policy and supported by the relevant
and sufficient documentation.
● Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline software
capitalization process and documentation gathering
● Ensure all fixed asset related transactions are posted accurately and timely
(depreciation, additions, disposals, and transfers) and proper accounting
treatment has been applied (capital vs. expense) in accordance with the
Company’s capitalization policy.
● Perform monthly General Ledger account analyses and account reconciliations
for inventory, fixed assets, and their related expense accounts
● Maintain the integrity of financial accounting and controls related to the
inventory accounts, fixed assets accounts and their associated COGS/expense
accounts (including process documentation)
● Assist in preparing month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting as well as
monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages, as needed
● Assist in the preparation and review of work papers and supporting schedules
for the annual audit
● Other various accounting projects as assigned
Required Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and related discipline
● 2-4 years in Accounting or Finance function
● Working knowledge of US GAAP as well as accounting and financial processes
● Microsoft Windows knowledge with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
(i.e. Vlookups, Pivot Table, IF and SUM functions)
● Keen attention to detail and a solution-oriented mindset
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Positive attitude and self-motivated
● Flexible to adapt and grow while keeping up with changing business needs
Preferred Experience
- ● Experience with B2B SaaS company is a plus
● Working Knowledge of NetSuite Inventory and Fixed Assets Module and JIRA
● Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows including Microsoft Excel
● Ability to work to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks under monthly
and quarterly close deadlines. Strong attention to detail.
● Highly regarded for ability to work independently and within a team
environment, and able to make well-reasoned and timely decisions.
● Practical, results-oriented team player with superior analytical, project
management, and problem-solving skill
