Neogen is looking to hire an Accountant to perform divisional accounting and analytical functions through direct efforts. Come be a part of a great team!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains and controls promotional distributor rebates and adjusts monthly accrual as needed.
  • Accrues for approved Marketing promotional programs as necessary.
  • Bills vendors or promotion partners when amounts are due to Neogen.
  • Prepares vendor chargeback forms and follows up on collection of vendor amounts due.
  • Performs month end closing procedures including divisional journal entries, royalty payments and miscellaneous reports for management.
  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to senior management
  • Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards within Excel, Prophix, Power BI and other applications.
  • Collaborates with the Sales and Marketing team on preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assist with semi-annual physical inventories.
  • Respond to requests by corporate accounting departments.
  • Assists Divisional Controller with various projects as they arise.

MICELLANEOUS:

  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Participates in monthly management meetings.
  • Communicates all problems and exceptions to manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or CMA a plus.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis, investment banking, or other related fields, preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements and data, general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and general public.

MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and financial modeling
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, calculate figures and amounts; such as discounts, mark up, margins, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to accuracy and detail required
  • Computer used in 80% of job activities.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current driver's license, auto insurance, own vehicle transportation.
