Title:Accountant
Compensation: $65k - $75k + 401k plan + ESOP 2% annual bonus +10 sick/personal days in year one (10 additional starting year 2) + 100% employer covered insurance
Description:
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, account reconciliation, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring experience in complex accounting environments and a solid understanding ofstatutory and GAAP principles, along with a proactive approach to process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions related to annuity products, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
β’ Ensure timely and accurate general ledger activity in accordance with statutory and GAAP standards.
β’ Analyze variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets for annuity lines of business.
β’ Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and reports (e.g., Annual Statements, Schedule D, Schedule BA).
β’ Reconcile financial accounts including reserves, premium revenue, commissions, and investment income.
β’ Collaborate with actuarial and investment teams to ensure accuracy in reserve calculations and investment allocations.
β’ Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and responding to inquiries.
β’ Participate in system upgrades and process improvement initiatives related to annuity accounting and reporting.
β’ Stay current on relevant regulations and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
β’ 2β4 years of accounting experience.
β’ Working knowledge of statutory reporting and GAAP accounting principles.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as SAP is a plus.
β’ Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
β’ Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
β’ CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred.
Pay Details:$65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
