Ferguson has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant - Post Acquisition! The position contributes to the completion of overall finance/accounting objectives by ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and analyzing accounting data in accordance with accounting policies and Financial Controls as mandated by the organization.

Location:

This is a Hybrid role based out of our corporate offices in Newport News, VA, in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary liaison between Ferguson and acquired companies' accounting staff to integrate and train acquired companies on Ferguson's accounting policies.
  • Perform timely monthly and annual GL close within assigned deadlines by reviewing multiple monthly reports (P&L's) to analyze revenue & expense accounts; provide/review month-over-month fluctuation analysis; address concerns/questions presented by field, management, and other departments; record and post required journal entries.
  • Reconcile and/or review balance sheet reconciliations for acquired companies which permanently or temporarily remain outside of Ferguson's legacy accounting system.
  • Develop strong, professional business partnerships with Executives, Field Finance, HQ Departments, IT, Finance Business Partners, Field Management Operations, and Central Finance.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the impact of the related accounting policies on the financial results.
  • Liaise with field finance business partners, branch operations, branch and distribution center management, acquisitions, HQ departments, IT, SSC and others as necessary to solve open balance sheet transactions, research expense fluctuations and address operational issues affecting assigned business segment.
  • Work with Management and peers to identify and implement process improvements on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Finance/Accounting experience in Month-end closing, Income Statement analysis, and balance sheet preparation and review
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel demonstrating the ability to work with and analyze substantial amounts of data.
  • Problem solver who can easily apply accounting principles and concepts to varying types of transactions.
  • Systems savvy and experience with PeopleSoft (preferred) or other accounting software.
  • Great teammate with very strong relationship building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized with outstanding attention to detail and accuracy, with a passion for numbers and their practical accounting application.
  • Experience providing financial analytics.
  • May require some travel.

Pay Range:

$3,899.70 - $6,325.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
