Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Admin that will bring an extreme level of organization to the job in the execution of various accounting functions including general ledger account reconciliations, intercompany billing, revenue and expense accruals, and prepaid expense amortization. The right candidate will provide a work product that supports financial reports most accurately reflecting the organization's economic condition.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a physical and digital workspace that is hyper-organized to ensure the timely provision of information and consistent application of departmental process.
  • Runs reports using organizational resources and extracts applicable data to create routine journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
  • Specific reconciliation examples include accounts receivable, accounts payable, and prepaid expenses.
  • Seeks an understanding of the organization's operations to ensure the accounting system accurately reflects those operational realities.
  • Facilitates the billing of intercompany expenses and the reconciliation of the related general ledger accounts.
  • Performs ongoing analysis of credit card transactions to ensure proper general ledger and departmental coding as well as the upload of those transactions into the accounting software.
  • Monitors the purchase of inventory on the credit card to ensure the proper flow of those transactions through the general ledger.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic accounting system theory, including-but not limited to-the major functional areas, normal balances, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts such as accrual and matching principles, depreciation/amortization, revenue recognition, and job costing.
  • Knowledge of the organization's operations and the ability to apply that knowledge to the organization's accounting processes.
  • Skill in account reconciliation and resolution of associated discrepancies.
  • Skill in moderate to advanced computer operations relating to the Microsoft suite of products, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Skill in identifying irregularities within large data sets and resolving those irregularities to avoid flawed financial reporting.
  • Ability to leverage available resources and relationships within the organization to find answers to problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to discern how one action within the accounting process or software may impact or interact with another.
  • Ability to collaborate with others, ask specific questions, and enumerate thoughts clearly.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree, professional certificate, or equivalent in accounting, bookkeeping, or other financially analytical field.
  • Demonstrable experience working within the accounting system is required.
  • Previous exposure to the aviation industry is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to sit for long periods of time while performing manual and computerized clerical duties.
