Description

The Accounting Analyst provides support to members of the accounting group and to the power plants serviced by the accountants. The primary function of the position will be managing the accounts payable process for the power plants and will be the intermediary between the power plants, the accounting group, and the accounts payable department. The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable providing oversight from beginning to end to ensure completeness of the payment process, including resolving all payment discrepancies.

Additional accounting-related functions will include journal entry preparation, monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, and supporting the accounting group during the month-end close process. The Accounting Analyst will also provide support during the annual budget process and provide assistance on the annual audit and tax engagements. Research and special projects will be assigned as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly power plant AP invoices.
  • Prepare draw certificates/packages to be submitted for AP funding.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and verify required approvals are visible on invoices prior to processing.
  • Review AP Edit batches for proper coding in the accounting system.
  • Perform follow-up actions and resolve discrepancies surrounding AP invoicing process.
  • Keep accounting invoices / files up to date.
  • Support Accounting group in month-end accounting close process.
  • Support annual budgeting process.
  • Support annual audit and tax engagements.
  • Other general accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Working on business or accounting undergraduate degree is preferred, high school diploma required.
  • At least three (3) years of related AP work experience is preferred.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of related business work experience is preferred.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Word, Powerpoint, Acumatica, or other accounting software.
  • Very detailed oriented.
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving capability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multi tasks and work independently
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
