The Accounting department's role is to have accurate, timely and informative results with a service minded approach. As a department, our role is to assist others and to support our CFO with Bread Financial initiatives. Our financial systems are robust and integrated to have best of breed. As a team, we work hard and value working together towards a common goal.
The Controllership Analyst prepares timely and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries, completing expense and Balance Sheet analysis associated with the month-end close process as well as various daily tasks to ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts, management reporting and ad hoc analysis. Position will also be responsible for all assigned month-end processes including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Summary financial reports and ad hoc financial analysis is performed under general supervision from the manager. The Analyst is responsible for the planning, executing and reporting as the lead resource for niche accounting subject areas and confers with manager on unusual matters and suggests improvement opportunities. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality or ingenuity and the Analyst has latitude for reviewed actions or decisions.

Essential Job Functions
Accounting: Prepares monthly account reconciliations for various Balance Sheet accounts. Preparation includes detailed reconciliation with appropriate supporting documentation, knowledge of how the respective account is impacted to track down reconciling items, the ability to explain fluctuations and working cross-functionally to ensure reconciling items are resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Prepares recurring and ad hoc journal entries for various General Ledger accounts, which includes thoughtful understanding as to why each entry is required and attaching appropriate supporting documentation with proper footing.
Reporting: Collect and compile simple financial information and assist accounting leaders to prepare accurate and timely financial reports, ad hoc reporting, and accounting statements for senior management. Reporting includes various metrics to upper management and meaningful analytics to assist management in driving the business forward and partner accordingly with clients.
Financial Analysist: Completes monthly analysis surrounding Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts along with explaining variance fluctuations. Assists in providing the appropriate supporting documentation to internal/external auditors for various audits throughout the year. Analyzes complex reconciliations and create detailed financial models based on ad hoc initiatives. Provides detailed financial analysis around challenges, cause/effect and final resolution. Works cross-functionally with other departments, clients or vendors to ensure the accuracy of account activity along with timely written and verbal communications to management and internal customers with the potential to include detailed account investigation, issue resolution with vendor, clients and cardholders, executing accurate vendor/client adjustments and understanding the financial implications. Utilizes strong written and verbal communication. Apply basic knowledge on project managing an initiative from gathering requirements, following up with key resources, documenting project decisions and implementing the initiative.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Degree Required: High School Diploma
-Two or more years experience in Accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Preferred Experience:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business related
-Three or more years in Accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis and reporting.
-Systems experience: Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, PeopleSoft, Blackline

Typical Starting Range:
$54,100.00 - $98,000.00
Full Salary Range for position:
California:$62,000.00 - $122,500.00
Colorado:$54,100.00 - $103,000.00
New York:$59,500.00 - $122,500.00
Washington:$56,800.00 - $112,400.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate's first year of employment.
Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
