DEI (Duke Energy Indiana) Accounting & Reporting provides accounting, financial analysis, and reporting support for the Controller's Department. The role is responsible for monthly/quarterly accounting and reporting tasks; interfacing with multiple business partners to facilitate accurate and timely reporting.
This is the third level of the financial analysis classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems, in financial areas of specialization, with moderate guidance and direction. Employees are building their knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.
The associate will work closely with teammates and managers on various accounting activities including monthly journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and analysis, and balance sheet and income statement variance analysis. Analyze and research ad-hoc requests, develop reporting, and effectively prepare presentations for management review and decision making.

Responsibilities
- Provide accounting and financial reporting and analysis to management and internal customers.
- Preparation and review of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, and financial statement analysis.
- Maintain good working knowledge of accounting policies and impacts as required.
- Prepare and review financial schedules and assist in review of data requests, internal and external reporting, and FERC filings.
- Work with internal and external auditors, providing necessary information and answering questions as needed.
- Maintain proper business and financial processes to ensure adherence to internal controls.
Required/Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
- Two (2) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
- Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
- Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
- Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or working toward CPA
- Advanced degree, preferably in Accounting
- Four (4) or more years of professional work-related experience
- Public accounting or auditing experience
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners
- Analytical and critical thinking skills, including data analytics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently multi-task within tight deadlines

Working Conditions
- Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
