Accounting Associate
Job Description
Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting an Accounting Associate to join the Fund Accounting and Reporting team. This role is responsible for the review of the accounting, financial reporting/analysis and tax reporting functions for the BBH Private Funds (the "Funds") which includes hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds sponsored by the Investment Management and Private Banking lines of business. The role interfaces with the Funds' administrators in Boston (Alternatives TA, Financial Reporting, Partnership Accounting and Tax), BBH product/portfolio managers and their teams, client relationship managers, the BBH corporate accounting function, big 4 audit and tax firms, the BBH Cayman Trust and team members of third-party Fund sub-advisers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review of monthly/quarterly financial reporting received from the service providers for the BBH private funds.
- Provide accurate and timely financial and tax reporting to investors (internal and external investors) in the BBH private funds.
- Assist in the completion of the Funds' annual audits.
- Review expenses and ensure that the Fund's expenses are paid timely providing a strong internal control environment and oversight of the BBH Private Funds.
- Provide feedback to the Boston Alternatives Accounting team as part of the monthly and quarterly Fund financial and NAV review process.
- Review investor capital call/distribution calculations and notices.
- Assist in finalizing K-1 and Fund tax reporting.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting for the investor confirmation process
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, 2-5 years relevant experience with strong accounting skills. Knowledge of Investment company accounting, partnership accounting and K-1 reporting a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify issues.
- The ability to communicate and resolve issues with Service Providers.
- The ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage deliverables.

BBH's compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $70,000 to $85,000, which is specific to New York, NY and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
