Accounting Associate

Garda is looking for an Accounting Associate to join the Accounting team in Wayzata, MN. This individual will be responsible for overseeing Garda’s global accounts payable process in addition to assisting senior teammates with various tasks.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support Garda’s global accounts payable process for all entities. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of processing vendor invoices, including appropriate general ledger classifications and compliance to Garda accounts payable policies.
• Correspond with vendors, maintain updated vendor tax forms, and process vendor invoices using IntegriData Expense Allocation System (EAS), managing the flow of expenses through multiple entities.
• Support the annual tax reporting process (1099 and 1042) for all Garda entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist senior accountants with accounting and reporting for Garda’s management company entities, ensuring compliance with policies, and consistency of reporting and controls across geographies and legal entities.
• Develop and maintain formal weekly cash reconciliations for each assigned Garda management company entity.
• Partner with the Accounting Manager to: analyze and approve Travel/Entertainment expenses; assist with Garda’s budget process as needed; assist with tracking insurance policies and payments for each entity.

Qualifications & Desired Skills:

• 2-year degree in accounting (with 4 years of relevant experience) or 4-year degree in accounting (with 2 years of relevant experience)
• Strong technical accounting skills specifically related to accounts payable and taxes (e.g. sales and use, VAT, etc)
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including building internal and external relationships
• Knowledge of and experience working with foreign currencies
• Demonstrated high performance and self-motivation with a high level of initiative and innovative thinking
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and IntegriData EAS a plus
