Accounting Associate, Financial Reporting

We are growing and looking to add a Financial Reporting Associate to our expanding Accounting and Financial Reporting team. The ideal candidate for this role has four or more years of public accounting or applicable industry experience and an extensive knowledge of US GAAP, with excellent attention to detail. This person will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and will own the preparation of the monthly and quarterly reporting package. We will also look to this person to establish more controlled and automated processes through the utilization of financial reporting software, research and document accounting policies for new transactions and products, and support the completion of a timely annual year-end financial statement audit. This person will partner closely with the operational accounting team as well as business owners across the company. This role requires a team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to multitask and prioritize.
What you do at Avant:

• Prepare monthly financial statements for internal and external reporting
• Compile quarterly and annual reporting in WDesk
• Partner closely with operational accounting team to facilitate the preparation of financial statements and disclosures
• Assist in the research and development of accounting policies around new transactions and products as well as complex accounting standards such as current expected credit losses (CECL), troubled debt restructurings, fair value adjustments, leases, stock compensation, or revenue recognition
• Streamline reporting processes through automation
• Maintain and strengthen controls around financial reporting
• Support timely completion of the annual year-end financial statement audit

Why you are a fit for Avant:

• 4+ years of experience of public accounting or applicable industry experience
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP
• CPA preferred
• Familiarity with FinTech/lending industry preferred
• Experience or familiarity with with NetSuite, WDesk, and other accounting efficiency software packages is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and effectively communicate with all staff levels
• Dependable, organized, motivated and trustworthy
