Primary Duties

1. Performs data entry of check requests, invoices, journal entries, expense reports, wire payments and other accounting documents into the accounting system.

2. Examines documents for adherence to prescribed policies, procedures, appropriate approvals and accuracy of computations. Assists in identifying, measuring, recording and classifying financial transactions.

3. Prepares schedules, records and summary reports pertaining to assigned areas.

4. Researches discrepancies in the accounting system to determine the source. Makes necessary corrections, within assigned limits, to ensure the accuracy of various reports and/or records.

5. Researches customer or other department inquiries and reconciliation issues. Escalates complex issues to designated level of authority.

6. Communicates with internal and external personnel regarding various accounting issues.

7. May provide technical assistance and training to other employees engaged in similar work.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level:

Associate's degree in Business Administration or a related field and 1 year related experience in Accounting; or

A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 2 years of related experience in Accounting.

Communication Skills:

Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion, verbally and in writing.

Numeric Skills:

Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Computer Skills:

Requires knowledge of various software applications to create documents and reports

Work Conditions:

Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
