About the Role:

The Accounting Director is primarily responsible for managing the Company’s partner bank accounts, reporting and program accounting. This role will report to This VP of Accounting and will serve as primary financial liaison with the partner banks and our internal engineering departments to ensure all parties are fully aligned on program accounting and reporting.  The Director will be responsible for training partners, daily and monthly activities as well projects to create efficient and effective solutions to complicated financial programs.  The Director will also be responsible for managing issues in current programs through to resolution and for developing and implementing strategies for reporting and reconciliation of proposed or new programs.

 Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a financial discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 9+ years of accounting/finance/analyst experience
  • Experience managing complex projects internal to an organization or as an external consultant.
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 2+ years direct people management experience
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to work cross functionally with multiple teams in the organization
  • Willingness to follow process without exceptions in a highly confidential manner
  • Basic understanding of database structure and comfort working with high volume data 
  • Inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
  • Unrelenting commitment to follow through.
  • SQL knowledge a huge plus
  • FinTech, SaaS or Banking background a huge plus!

 Responsibilities:

  • Review daily partner related bank reconciliations to ensure Self is processing payments accurately and timely.  Assist with researching and resolving discrepancies (if any).
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders as well as bank partners.
  • Manage and resolve bank partner inquiries. 
  • Coordinate with engineering department on identified issues from solution development through testing and release.
  • Serve as primary delegate for Financial Reconciliation and Payouts product domains.
  • Identify and lead process and system improvements, including automation of the reconciliation process.
  • Maintain and create policies and procedures, including documenting process flows and discrepancy resolution procedures. 
  • Identify and support improvements in the control environment.
  • Manage Escheatment & Tax Compliance programs in coordination with Banks
  • Other duties as assigned.
