Job Description

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations such as accounts payables and receivables, closing processes following US GAAP ( Annual, Quarterly, Monthly ) and reporting financial statement following Japanese GAAP
  • Review and perform account analysis and reconciliation, including review of complex general ledger accounts
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Analyze financial data and create report for management, stakeholders and external parties
  • Provide technical accounting support and oversight for significant and complex transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and others as well as new accounting standards.
  • Manage and monitor fixed and current assets such as inventory, cash, etc
  • Improve accounting procedures and workflow
  • Review and analyze accounting issues, and initiate corrective actions
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting
  • Hire, train and motivate accounting staff members while supervising and delegating responsibilities and tasks
  • Work closely with leadership to actively engage in the technical and professional development of staff, including detailed review of work for identification of improvement opportunities and coaching of all staff levels.
  • Cooperate with internal parties such as accounting department in Japan and external parties to ensure proper accounting practices
  • Perform ad hoc duties related to accounting
  • Assist with the annual external audit processes

Requirements

  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
    • 5+ years of prior experience in the financial reporting/general ledger
    • Analytical and issue-solving skills
    • Team player with leadership
    • Strong desire to improve operations and efficiency
    • Experience in proposing and implementing new systems in accounting and finance
    • Ability to accept ambiguity and uncertainty and create change on one's own

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience in the manufacturing industry and SaaS business
    • Experience in tax ( corporate tax, sales tax, fixed asset tax, and etc )
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance. CPA is a plus.
    • Proficiency utilizing financial systems and reporting packages as well as Microsoft Office products.
