Relationship and Scope
This position will report to the Reinsurance Services Assistant Vice President. The position requires knowledge of insurance or reinsurance accounting, contracts, and procedures. The candidate will use this knowledge to enhance financial reporting and ledger reconciliations, assist in resolving complex reinsurance issues by identifying the technical issues and completing detailed reconciliations that provide a resolution. The candidate will also be expected to provide training and guidance to develop Reinsurance Accounting personnel.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage small team (1 to 2 direct reports),
- Review journals, account reconciliations and financial reporting completed by team.
- Prepare material journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare material Monthly/Quarterly financial reports and analysis.
- Provide support and backup to cash management functions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - Accounting/Finance/Business
- Insurance designations (such as ARe / CPCU) desired, CPA a plus.
- Extensive knowledge (5 to 10 years) of Insurance preferably reinsurance accounting, contracts, and procedures.
- Proven leader that can effectively manage team within a changing environment.
- Ability to analyze large data sets to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to align data sets from different systems (example FIRST accounting and Cognos financials) to identify and resolve problems.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external contacts until problems are clarified and resolved.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PeopleSoft is required.
- FIRST knowledge a plus
