Accounting Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support multiple portfolio companies within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role will oversee accounting for several active entities while also handling project-based work in collaboration with FP&A and various accounting teams. The position requires strong GL accounting skills, advanced Excel abilities, and the ability to work independently while balancing recurring accounting tasks with special projects.
Location: La Jolla (hybrid/three days)
Comp: $120-130k + $10k bonus & excellent benefits
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting for multiple portfolio companies, including full-cycle work for certain entities and lighter oversight for others
• Maintain multiple sets of books (cash flow, loans, interest schedules, reconciliations)
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, invoices, and cash transactions
• Maintain supporting schedules and balance sheet reconciliations; review account coding and classifications for accuracy
• Analyze changes in account balances, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrections
• Collaborate with FP&A on project-based work and financial analysis
• Assist with monthly financial reporting packages and presentations
• Support annual audit and tax work by preparing schedules and reconciliations
• Communicate regularly with internal teams, clients, and external partners/vendors
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc assignments
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong operational accounting background with the ability to manage complex, multi-entity structures
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, linked schedules, data analysis)
• Strong ERP experience; NetSuite preferred
• CPA and/or prior Public Accounting experience a plus
• Previous management or supervisory experience
• Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Critical thinker with sound judgment; motivated and proactive with minimal need for oversight
• Comfortable working in a sophisticated, fast-paced office environment requiring adaptability and multi-tasking
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
