Accounting Manager

HomeWorks Energy is looking for an Accounting Manager that will maintain financial systems and accounts, and oversee the day-to-day tasks of the accounting team.

Essential Functions:

• Trains, mentors, and manages members of the accounting team.
• Maintains the company chart of accounts and authorizes access as needed.
• Reviews AP check run for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepares and initiates any bank wire or ACH payment activity and properly records it in accounting system.
• Reconciles all accounts and assists with month-end close.
• Oversees the day-to-day tasks of the accounting team along with the Controller and identifies areas where improvement is needed.
• Reviews the work of the junior level staff and continue to serve as a coach and mentor.
• Learns the financial mechanics of the three lines of business and from experience, be able to assist or substitute for any team member.
• Records all weekly payroll activity and reconciles payroll expense quarterly to 941.
• Assists leadership with the monthly close.
• Provides insight and support when interacting with the external auditors.
• Assists with compiling auditor schedule of requests.
• Performs other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent computer software skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
• 5+ years’ experience as Senior Accountant
• 3+ years’ experience as Accounting Manager
• Financial analysis experience
• NetSuite or equivalent
• Working knowledge of Salesforce preferred
• Experience managing small departments

Education or License Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
