Accounting Manager – Position Summary


The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions; including but not limited to, dealership financial reporting and analysis, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, travel & expense policy and controls, business taxes, and internal controls. This role maintains the integrity of accounting records by ensuring the organization’s policies and procedures are followed by all.

Job Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Team Management – Lead, manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals while fostering a collaborative, positive, and high-performance work environment. Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations of team members. Manage timelines and deliverables by monitoring the workload distribution of direct reports and prioritizing tasks.
  • Customer Service – Provide excellent internal and external customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing appropriate guidance.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis – Oversee Dealership reporting and variance analysis while providing vision and leadership to ensure the team understands both the operations and business drivers behind the variance analysis. Ensure all dealership balance sheet accounts and schedules are maintained and properly supported.
  • Continuous Improvement – Maintain a mindset of continuous learning and a commitment to quality to best deliver value. Proactively identify, review, and implement process, system, and technology improvements. Stay informed about industry and accounting trends, laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Technical Knowledge – Provide technical accounting guidance and support. Proactively research, understand, and implement new accounting and government standards, rules, and regulations. Ensure team adherence to documented accounting policies, compliance with GAAP, and sound business practices.
  • Internal Controls – Support finance leadership in developing, evaluating, and implementing business processes and policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Maintain a strong internal control and audit process in relation to company policies and financial controls. Responsible for quality of accounting through review of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reimbursement processes, workflow, and controls. Analyze and determine cost saving solutions and strategies
  • Business Taxes – Ensure the accurate filing of all business-related taxes (i.e., Sales, Property, Income Taxes).
  • ERP & System Administration – Manage and administer Accounts Payable and Accounting-related workflows & processes within the ERP and other applicable systems.

Must haves:

  • 4-year degree in accounting or related field; CPA certification or master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Previous proven experience in a managerial role is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent workload prioritization, resource management and project management.
  • A self-motivated hands-on team player with a “can-do” attitude and a solutions-orientated personality.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and maintain flexibility regarding ad-hoc projects, revisions to areas of responsibility and organizational change.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey financial information to both financial and non-financial individuals.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, as well as advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis tools.
  • Valid Driver’s License with proven safe driving history.
