We are looking for someone with broad experience in accounting and finance or a willingness to branch out beyond a typical corporate silo and expand their skills. If you’re not afraid to get your hands in the day-to-day on processes that are currently manual, all while working on a cross-functional team with a goal to automate using new software integrations, then this is a good fit.

How You’ll Help

• Managing the billing process for new and renewal orders via SaaSOptics - Hubspot
• Calculating commissions for a small but growing sales team in Excel - the goal is to move to a commissions software within 12 months or less depending on priorities
• Sales tax set up in Avalara, filing and payment of sales tax 
• Preparing month end close journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in Google sheets/Excel and Quickbooks Online alongside the outsourced accounting team
• Working with outside CPA firm on tax and accounting projects; financial statement review and preparation, prior experience with working with auditors is preferred
• Calculating financial metrics and reporting to the team
• Analyze budget variances and work with department heads to stay in budget
• Help manage bill pay runs with the outsourced accountants
• Ad hoc reporting requests and other finance/accounting projects that may pop up as they certainly do every day in a startup environment!
• Manage the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and and annual accounting cycles and work with the VP Finance and outsourced accountants/CPAs to complete items in GAAP

What You Bring

• Previous experience in Finance and Accounting
• Demonstrated process improvement experience
• Experience in month end close and reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and General Ledger accounting
• Experience working on or with an audit of financial statements
• Excel proficiency
• Understanding of GAAP and ASC 606
• General technical aptitude, with the ability to work quickly over Gmail, Google sheets, Slack, and Zoom in a remote environment
• Tech/SaaS experience is a plus
• Close proximity to Ann Arbor for in-person meetings

Requirements of the Accounting Manager

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of experience
• Experience with cloud-based back office systems

Salary: 110K - 140K
