Accounting Manager

Alma is seeking a mission-driven Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team. Reporting to our Director of Accounting, and working closely with the full finance and accounting teams, you will collaborate across the entire organization and play a critical role on the corporate accounting side, overseeing consolidation, prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, accounts payable, and more. The ideal candidate will manage one direct report from day one, has strong technical accounting skills and has demonstrated success in a hyper-growth, fast paced environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee corporate accounting processes, including consolidation, prepaids, capitalized software, lease accounting, fixed assets, accruals, and accounts payable.
  • Play a key role in the month end close process by reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations, keeping team priorities on track and working across the organization to obtain relevant information.
  • Manage weekly payout process to ensure Alma’s providers are accurately paid in a timely manner. Communicate externally with providers when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Manage one Staff Accountant and aid in their professional development 
  • Partner with several departments on projects, issues that arise, and to improve and make processes more efficient.
  • Perform technical accounting research. Prepare memos and facilitate discussion with accounting leadership.
  • Oversee a Corporate credit card program and assist with controls and implementation of new purchasing processes.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensure they are in accordance with GAAP and ensure day to day compliance
  • Oversee development of process documentation and continue to enhance quality of control evidence
  • Partner with FP&A team to identify and resolve variances, provide analysis of financial results
  • Other ad-hoc projects as required

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in-house within public accounting - CPA certified a plus
  • You have strong technical accounting skills – understanding of ASC 606, 842, and 350
  • You have experience implementing accounting and financial practices, reports, and system audits
  • You have strong people management skills, and enjoy mentoring staff with a focus on supporting their growth
  • You think independently and decisively, have a professional demeanor and can-do attitude
  • You are a strong project manager with excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • You are detail-oriented, able to work according to schedules and work plans, are not afraid to ask questions and request help as needed

Salary Band: $105,000 - $125,000 

Alma’s compensation philosophy is driven by our company value of building equity. To best ensure pay equity, we typically bring in new hires near the middle of our listed salary bands and we do not negotiate our compensation (i.e. all people hired at the same level & role are brought in at the same salary, equity, and benefits).
