The Role
Metropolis is looking for a driven Accounting Manager to manage a significant segment of our accounting function focused on supporting corporate business operations and financial reporting. You will be responsible for managing the general ledger, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting for select revenue and corporate operating expense segments of the business, including hardware engineering and inventory, driving process improvement, and ensuring our contracts, policies and documentation align with business needs and compliance requirements. This role reports to Corporate Controller / Assistant Controller and will work closely with Sales, Operations, Legal, and the rest of the finance and accounting team.
Responsibilities
● Ownership of client and corporate financial close and reporting cycles, including consolidations for executive reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
● Be a key contributor to ongoing processes and improvements related to our general ledger, AR and AP functions, and treasury operations
● Participate in our annual audit and preparation of financial statements
● Contribute to the implementation of our new ER, NetSuite
● Interact with auditors, technical advisors, and other partners
● Responsible for credit card and other high volume transaction revenue reporting and reconciling settlement statements
● Responsible for end-to-end systems data flows and design and documentation of related controls environments for certain segments of the business
● Responsible for managing inventory accounting and partnering with R&D on costing and related tracking processes
● Partner with multiple internal organizations to drive policy, process, and systematic improvements including data collection and reporting streams across the organization
● Manage and actively seek to grow the capabilities of our internal and external accounting teams, including strategic planning of team expansion for future business growth
● Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements
● Proactively collaborate, influence, and align the company’s accounting policies with the overall company strategy
Requirements
● 4+ years combined accounting experience
● Experience in dynamic company environments, preferably with high growth
● Experience providing accounting reports to multi-location environments
● Highly collaborative with a deep sense of ownership and accountability, willing to roll up sleeves and dive into the details and comfort with ambiguity and experimentation
● Prior experience with parking, real estate, or property management accounting a plus
● Experience with Stripe or other credit card transactions processors (First Data, Elavon, etc) is a plus
● Experience in managing and consolidating the accounting for multiple subsidiaries and knowledge of intercompany transactions is a plus
● Process oriented, have had experience in streamlining the close process
● Manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong focus on organization and formatting
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
● Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team
The anticipated base salary for this position is $85,000.00 to $115,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
