Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager who will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and implementing efficient processes and controls.

What You'll Do:

• Manage day-to-day operations of Politico's General Ledger Accounting Team consisting of three employees.
• Oversee outsourced accounting functions and staff including Payroll, Accounts Payable and T&E.
• Lead Politico's month end close and financial statement preparation including journal entry review and balance sheet reconciliation, in compliance with IFRS.
• Maintain financial reporting systems, performing administrative functions.
• Implement/document processes and controls to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Partner with Politico's Senior Tax Analyst to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Provide coaching to Politico's accounting team and contractors.
• Provide cross functional support to leadership throughout the organization including the newsroom, sales, human resources, and marketing.
• Partner with FP&A to perform ad-hoc financial and operational analyses as needed.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with an active CPA license.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting related roles and 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/ IFRS required with experience in digital media preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with process improvement and documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Great Plains and Salesforce experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to proactively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
