We are seeking an Accounting Manager that focuses on the generation, preparation, and communication of information that is complete and accurate to support effective decision making, management, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Accounting Managers are responsible for completing a wide range of general accounting, real estate accounting, and reporting activities within the Accounting Services Organization under the guidance and supervision of Accounting Director and Regional Controller.

Accounting Managers may be responsible for a product and/or property portfolio ranging from 10-20 properties and/or corporate/service/management entities depending on the level of accounting complexity involved. Accounting Managers will have certain review and other supervisory responsibilities in addition to the duties performed by a Senior Financial Accountant. Accounting Manager's responsibilities reflect varying levels of capabilities and are expected to evolve as individuals acquire relevant experience and demonstrate greater accountability.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise, especially with regards to accounting for complex transactions and/or properties. Work with Internal and External Auditors on Separate Property Audits (20%)
  • Review Senior Financial Accountants and Financial Accountants' work including month end, quarter-end financial packages to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance (20%)
  • Review journal entries on GAAP, Tax and IFRS basis including but not limited to: standard entries, applicable reclassifications / adjustments, review of all income and expenses, accruals, overhead allocations, consolidations and eliminations, and intercompany transactions. Collaborating with business unit and property level colleagues to obtain necessary data and documentation to prepare and support journal entries (25%)
  • Prepare and distributing periodic reports for various legal entities (properties, management services companies, partnerships), external business partners (joint venture partners), lending institutions (banks, institutional investors), and fund reporting. Required periodic reports may include but are not limited to: Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows statements (15%)
  • Coach and mentor other Senior Financial Accountants and Financial Accountants (10%)
  • Prepare support data and analyses for financial reporting requirements and corporate communications needs including but not limited to: schedules, reconciliations, footnotes, Performing variance analysis, as required (10%)

Your Qualifications:

  • The This position requires an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 years of required experience in Public Accounting or Real Estate Accounting
  • A preferred professional/state licensing for this position include: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Previous managerial experience in supervising accounting staff
  • Required skills for this position include: general accounting principles and processes, analytical and detail-oriented, perform quality assurance reviews, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines, communication - written and oral, accounting software systems, and Microsoft Office
