Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.


QUALIFICATIONS:Β 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required.
  • Experience: Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.Β 
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.


GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, account reconciliations, and accounts payable.
  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.


CORE DUTIES/ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Establishes and maintains compliance with internal controls, procedures, and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
  • Develops and oversees preparation of analytical business activity reports, and assists with financial forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit and periodic financial institution field exams.
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
