Avid Ratings is looking for a full-time Accounting Manager with HR experience to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote position that requires the ability to drive to Madison, WI once a week to collect the mail. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and HR operations of the company and it's Canadian subsidiary company, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements, journal entries, payroll and other tasks. This position reports to the CEO and fractional CFO.
What You'll Be Doing
- Full bookkeeping for two companies-Payroll, AR, AP and other accounting projects.
- Complete month end close cycle including accrual journal entries, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
- Translate, consolidate and review monthly financial statements for US and Canadian entities
- Analyze monthly revenue and expenses and update financial forecast on a monthly basis
- Collect mail/checks and create weekly remote deposits
- Review and approve customer contracts prior to execution
- Calculate monthly commissions for sales employees
- Responsible for monthly invoicing for both entities
- Process employee expense reports weekly
- Monitor Aged Accounts Receivable for both companies, follow-up with clients for payment
- Responsible for tax reporting in US & Canada
- Assist outside CPA firms with tax preparation annually
- Coordinate and manage various audits
- Ensure employee data changes such as new hires, terminations, direct deposits and tax elections are complete for payroll processing.
- Setup State Tax and UI accounts for both companies as needed in conjunction with our payroll company.
- Provide advisory services to employees and management on a variety of benefit programs and services
- Responsible for annual employee benefits renewal process
- Responsible for employee onboarding, including signing up employees for benefits and insurance
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting
- Solid understanding on GAAP accounting principles
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel is a must
- Proficiency in Google Workspace apps
- Experience with inter-company transactions and a multi-currency corporation
- Experience with Paylocity is a plus
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- High attention to detail
- Excellent organization and time management
- Ability to work independently
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with Canadian and US entities

Salary range: $70,000-$85,000 annually
