Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager performs and leads a variety of finance, accounting and reporting activities for the company utilizing technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication, collaboration as well as problem solving skills.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform various complex accounting reconciliations for all Marketplaces
  • Analyze and review complex and detailed data for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with implementation of and ongoing SOX compliance
  • Assist with annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Manage and Prepare documentation for external/internal auditors
  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to prepare, review, and approve select journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain the corporate chart of accounts
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously
  • Articulate accounting tasks and drive process improvement within the accounting staff
  • Manage and direct the month end/quarter end/year end close processes
  • Train accounting team members and others in company on accounting best practices
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
  • Become a super user with Kaspien's NetSuite ERP
  • Use knowledge of operations and available technology to create efficiencies in tasks and processes
  • General accounting duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred, or else equivalent years of job-related experience
  • 7+ years of progressive work experience in accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of managing an accounting team
  • NetSuite experience preferred. ERP experience required (e.g., SAP, MAS90, Oracle)
  • SOX and internal controls experience desired
  • Experience working with large data sources. We have thousands of SKUs with millions of small dollar sales.

License, Registration, and/or Certification Requirement:

  • CPA (current or expired) preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and quantitative skills
  • Outstanding leadership
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables. An Excel knowledge test will be administered
  • Knowledge of systems and software for accounting and ancillary functions
  • Experience with ERP system in accounting
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Ability to identify issues, research and implement relevant and effective solutions
  • Independent and self-starter. A person who does not require micromanagement.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a staff of 5-10 employees and/or contractors

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced, deadline-oriented office environment
  • Remote, with occasional travel to Spokane WA

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 15 pounds

Salary Description

$90,000 - $120,000 annually D.O.E.
