Your Role at Baxter:
The Americas Center of Expertise (CoE) supports the Baxter monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close process and has high visibility access to senior leadership, supporting Baxter's Finance organization.
This team focuses on ensuring accurate accounting treatment, establishing and completing efficient month-end close processes and maintaining strong internal controls.
This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with the various Operations teams, including the Manufacturing and Supply Chain organizations, Global Planning, IT, Local Country Finance, the Accounting Shared Services Center (SSC) and CoE, and Service Delivery Partners.
What You'll be Doing:
- Lead and be held accountable for the analysis and execution of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate/timely reporting of monthly financial data, including required GAAP/management adjustments, and accounting support
- Identify the appropriate accounting treatment for certain complex transactions ensuring compliance with US GAAP and documentation for audit purposes
- Support implementation of new accounting standards as relevant, collaborating closely with Technical Accounting team and key stakeholders within local country finance teams to confirm alignment
- Develop and standardize processes to drive consistency and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Support Operations and Corporate Planning teams, by providing control and oversight over close processes, and serving as liaison between centralized accounting teams (COE and SSC) and respective local country teams
- Partner and lead direct and indirect reports from the Shared Service Center team in Costa Rica to drive efficiencies and process standardization
- Focus on accounting related to Manufacturing, Planning & Fulfillment, Inventory
- Partner with Payroll Ops to verify appropriate accounting pertaining to Compensation which include Americas Payroll, MICP, Commissions, Stock Options, and other payroll-related functions.
- Partner with Local Country Finance as it pertains to Royalty accounting for various product types
- Review trial balance trends to ensure appropriate understanding of activity and identification of potential risks and opportunities
- Drive process improvement initiatives for the team including analysis and the identification of opportunities, implementation and monitoring post-implementation
- Lead, evaluate and develop staff
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA and/or CMA highly recommended
- Demonstration of key finance proficiencies and qualifications and typically 5 plus years of relevant accounting experience
- Previous management / supervisory experience is preferred
- Ability to handle ambiguity and apply professional judgement to business situations
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and financial statement analysis, including understanding of internal control requirements and relevant business environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple, contending priorities and escalate or resolve issues appropriately to meet financial deadlines
- Working experience using of Hyperion Financial Management, JDE, Alteryx, and Workday systems preferred
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $80,000 to $180,000. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
