As the Accounting Manager for the Franklin, TN location of SPX Aids to Navigation, you will be responsible for activities which support the financial and operational management of the company including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Additionally, you will be involved in the development of the company's financial forecast and analysis of the periodic financial results.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization. Candidates for this role will know how to meet ambitious individual and team-wide goals. Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, review and management of the month end financial close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and various reporting requirements
  • Assisting in the determination of the appropriate accounting treatment of various transactions
  • Performance of various analytics requiring a strong understanding of financial statements and the necessary analytical tools to prepare, review and analyze financial statement movements.
  • Management of an effective Sarbanes Oxley financial reporting control environment as well as the oversight and execution of controls testing
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget, monthly operations and maintenance expense forecasts, variance analysis, and other analyses necessary for the support of internal and business reporting activities
  • Implementation of finance and cross functional process improvement initiatives to drive cost savings and profitability improvement strategies
  • Management of the customer billing and collections process
  • Preparation and analysis of the monthly and quarterly performance reports
  • Management of the working capital and cash flow reporting process
  • Performing ad hoc financial analysis as required
  • Assisting with development, improvement and standardization of company policies and procedures
  • Opportunities to be involved in and/or lead special projects crossing various functional groups
  • Corresponding with, and support of, other Corporate functional areas such as accounting/external reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, IT and investor relations
  • Providing coaching and guidance to assigned direct reports
  • All other duties as directed or modified

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA License preferred
  • Experience with the financial reporting controls and reporting requirements of a publicly traded company
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence and procedure and to effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public;
  • Experience with SAP ERP system, OneStream financial reporting software, Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
