The Transaction Margin ("TM") Accounting team plays a pivotal role in supporting PayPal's activity, ensuring that we can consolidate and ultimately integrate our business units in an efficient, well controlled manner.

What you need to know about the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join PayPal's TM Team. In this position, you will be responsible for the day-to-day corporate accounting operations and financial reporting activities, focusing primarily on Transaction Expense and Transaction loss activities. This role requires an understanding of US GAAP principles, accounting operations, regulatory reporting and internal controls. Ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and is willing to dive into the details while still maintaining an understanding of the big picture.
Your day to day:
In your day-to-day role you will:
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the monthly close process
- Consolidate and review worldwide Transaction Expense and Loss activities for PayPal and its subsidiaries to ensure results are complete and accurate
- Monitor daily and monthly processor fees to validate accuracy of accruals
- Maintain and update accounting policies, process documentation, and procedures related to Transaction Expense and Loss, as needed
- Collaborate across functions and analyze large amounts of to develop an understanding of how business initiatives and other operational activities impact financial results
- Identify opportunities and champion process improvement efforts to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the Transaction Expense and Loss process. Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance the internal control environment and simplify and streamline end-to-end processes
- Prepare and/or review reporting packages and presentation that include financial statement results fluctuation analysis that will be distributed to members of Senior Management
- Support internal (SoX) and external audit process by preparing and providing PBCs on a timely basis
- Work with Data and Business Applications team to develop and implement enhanced transaction expense and loss reporting across business units.
- Act as a representative of the TM Team and proactively engage with a cross-functional stakeholder team for global reporting across key stakeholders within Finance (PMO teams, Accounting Policy, Tax, Corporate Controllership, Financial Operations, International Controllership, Finance Systems Team, etc.)
- Support new product implementations from an accounting and control perspective
- Support the Finance team in a variety of ad hoc projects and tasks
What do you need to bring:
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting and finance experiences; proficient in US GAAP and relevant accounting and financial reporting matters.
- "Big 4" public accounting experiences preferred
- Excellent Microsoft application skills
- Thrives in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
- Effective communication skills
- Adaptable learner with analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong business acumen, with an ability to drive continuous improvement
- High degree of intellectual curiosity
- Ability to independently and simultaneously manage various tasks and projects and work under deadlines
