The Impact You’ll Make

As an Accounting Manager, you will be a key leader of our accounting team and responsible for the global general ledger accounting function of the Company. You will be a hands-on leader who will effectively balance the demands of closing the books accurately and timely with leading an internal customer-facing team. You will regularly partner with colleagues in Finance & Strategy, Revenue Operations, Procure-to-Pay, Legal and various other departments to ensure accurate financial results while maintaining effective internal controls. You will be a primary point of contact for our external auditors, tax team, and work heavily with internal audit on SOX compliance. 

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the Finance organization around close-the-books process improvement, system optimization projects, scaling accounting infrastructures, standardizing processes globally, and mentoring the accounting team.   • Manage and mentor a growing team of super star accountants 
  • Implement best-in-class global close processes while documenting effective internal controls
  • Review US GAAP consolidated financial statements, flux analysis for income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows and stockholders equity to ensure all results are fully reconciled and analyzed in a timely manner
  • Leverage accounting systems to provide insight on key business trends to Finance & Strategy and internal business partners
  • Support the Controller and Head of Accounting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages to management and other periodic reporting as needed
  • Provide support and guidance to the international accountant working with local agencies and independent auditors in all countries in the preparation of required statutory reporting and audits
  • Maintain a strong understanding of foreign currency accounting and reporting
  • Act as a primary interface with the Company’s external auditors, and coordinate execution of quarterly and annual audits
  • Build toward a best in class internal control environment at scale
  • Work alongside the Accounting and Finance leadership team on projects related to challenges we will face as a growing, multi-national company
What You’ll Bring to The House

You have strong organizational and communication skills and are able to prioritize, plan, perform and communicate activities and findings both in written and verbal form to individuals, management and auditors. You take initiative and are able to work in a dynamic environment across all levels of management and across functions and geographies. You are confident, energetic, demonstrate good judgment and are able to influence outcomes globally. 

  • Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in Accounting roles, including at a public company
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 2 years of people management experience, including with more than one direct report
  • Experience working with multiple foreign offices or subsidiaries required
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and accepted accounting standards and local reporting requirements in various countries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation and informal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work across many departments with varying levels of staff and management to solve problems and achieve results
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills, efficient, self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • A strong passion for Nextdoor’s mission
