Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will play an essential role in the financial management of the organization. Reporting the Controller, this role will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of our accounts receivable function including managing the invoicing for multi-million-dollar federal reimbursement-based contracts and other grant funding in accordance with Federal Code of Regulations (2 CFR 200), GAAP, the Uniform Guidance and all requirements applicable to 501(c)(3) organizations.
What You’ll Do:
- Monthly Invoices: Working in coordination with Budget Analyst and Jr Accountant AP, AR analyst will prepare the monthly invoices for government and reimbursement-based grants, including review of all acceptable charges to grants, supporting schedules, and back up documentation as required by funder
- Code Income Deposits: Review and propose coding for income deposits ensuring appropriate documentation for audit and donor intent. Process and post deposits from cash/checks, merchant credit card accounts, and other deposits
- Track and update all grants: Using a master grant tracker to provide real-time updates on grant burn rate;
- Audit Support: Manage funder requests including all open items for open invoices and audit/review. Assist with internal audit and various funder financial reviews.
- Budget Modifications: Working with the Budget Analyst and program team leaders, prepare and submit budget modifications to funders as needed
- A/R Reporting: Prepare monthly A/R aging reports and review with various program teams for collections and updates
- Support controller on other projects as needed.

Requirements:
Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field
- 3+ years recent experience working mid-level role in accounting
- Not-for-profit accounting experience
- Accounts Receivable experience
- Experience with and confidence managing financial compliance and reporting with federal government contracts and Code of Federal Regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using QuickBooks or similar accounting software including job costing
- Advanced MS Excel and Google Sheets; developing spreadsheets and formula writing
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Detail oriented self-starter with the ability to work effectively with limited supervision and within a team
- Ability to prioritize, assessing risk and materiality
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and other information
- Decision-making, problem-solving, analytical skills
- Strong research and comprehension skills coupled with the desire and ability to learn on the job
- Ability to maintain discretion when handling sensitive financial information
Work Requirements
- Must work onsite from LA office two days/week
Position Details:
This is a full-time position, starting immediately. LACI operates out of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, in the bustling Downtown LA Arts District. Since we are rapidly growing, you will be getting in on the ground floor at LACI, with the opportunity to evolve with us and shape your future here. Some travel may be required.
Salary Range: Manager Range $62-81k commensurate with experience, education, skills, etc and total compensation package including health benefits, 401k match, professional development, commuter benefits and more.
