Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department within the credit union. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective internal controls. The Accounting Manager will supervise accounting staff, manage general ledger activities, and assist in strategic financial planning and audits. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee all general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations. • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and NCUA regulations. • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate performance of accounting staff; provide training and development opportunities. • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure accurate classification of accounts and transactions. • Manage budget preparation and financial forecasting processes in collaboration with executive leadership. • Coordinate external and internal audits; ensure compliance with NCUA regulations, GAAP, and other financial standards. • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and improve financial efficiency. • Work closely with other departments to support organizational initiatives and resolve financial issues. Qualifications: Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred) • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role • Credit union or financial services experience strongly preferred Job Type: Full-time Pay: $61,957.00 - $65,849.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Schedule: • 8 hour shift • Monday to Friday Ability to Commute: • San Antonio, TX 78201 (Required) Ability to Relocate: • San Antonio, TX 78201: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
