What You’ll Do
We are seeking to add a high-caliber member to our Finance & Accounting team. The Accounting Operations Manager is a foundational role in our accounting team as this role will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. Taking ownership of close processes, establishing and enforcing the best accounting practices, and maintaining meticulous records will be the main contributions to success. The Accounting Operations Manager will be highly visible to both internal and external customers as a resource for payroll, billing, and company expense management support. This role will report to the Corporate Controller and will be based in Houston, Texas.
- Manage and administer payroll protecting the confidentiality and integrity of data.
- Manage corporate card expense program and enforce timeliness of reporting.
- Support the team in a high transaction volume and rapid growth environment.
- Ensure consistency and completeness of day-to-day procedures following documented internal policies.
- Oversee the accounts receivable and collections process and handle escalated concerns by contacting clients via telephone and/or email, reconcile aging statements, and ensure A/R policy adherence
- Oversee and support the audit of the internal systems - ensure correct information is input at all times.
- Assist in the accounts payable process by monitoring the AP email inbox, responding to escalated external and internal inquiries, and reviewing invoices in the accounting system daily for the appropriate coding, approval, and documentation prior to payment.
- Support the management team through compliant financial processes which empower deep dive analytics across the organization.
- Prepare analytical data related to sales and sales tax.
- Oversee and support balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Understand the big-picture, think strategically and act tactically in an ambiguous environment
- Assist with completion of duties in absence of other F&A team members.
- Oversee the Operations Accountant, provide direction and support to ensure account receivables and transactional related responsibilities are fulfilled.
What You’ll Bring
- Entrepreneurial Bent: You have built something from the ground up and know what it’s like to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, tolerating ambiguities and resolving them as appropriate. You likely have some experience at a smaller company with this, or within a larger company driving a new initiative.
- Accounting Experience: You have served in accounting functions and understand the importance of strong controls. Overall 5+ years in a mid or large sized public accounting firm focused on top-notch client service in the audit or consulting fields or you’ve served in the trenches of your previous company’s accounting departments and have learned from the best (or worst) accounting practices. CPA designation is required.
- Domain and Functional Expertise: Demonstrated experience and knowledge in key functional areas of Accounting across Transactional Accounting, Accrual Method, Policies and Procedures, Cash Management, Payroll, and more. A deep knowledge of GAAP compliance is required.
