The Accounting Project Director manages the ongoing initiatives across the Finance & Accounting organization, primarily focused on the newly launched Finance Transformation project. The Finance Transformation project aims to build and execute on a roadmap to migrate accounting and finance functions from the legacy system(s) into Oracle and other fit for purpose software platforms, along with implementing process improvements to drive overall value.
The Accounting Project Director serves as the main contact for internal and external teams working on the project, drives/assists in setting the project plan, timeline, project deliverables, budgets, and reviewing key decisions (along with Zayo management) to ensure the project meets its intended objectives. This role also manages other internal initiatives identified from time to time, such as acquisition integrations.
Responsibilities
  • Serves as the main contact for internal and external teams working on the Finance Transformation project and/or ongoing initiatives
  • Drives and assists in setting and maintaining the project plan, timelines, project deliverables, budgets, communications, and stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinates and provides input into the review of key project decisions, along with Zayo management teams
  • Partners closely with various Finance & Accounting, PMO, and business teams to ensure project work streams stay on track and deliver value
  • Coordinates communication, planning, analysis and reporting around the ongoing initiatives
  • Assists in initiating, implementing and executing process improvements and controls
  • Builds and maintains strong business partnerships across the enterprise

Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of project/program experience, preferably focused in Finance & Accounting processes such as Record to Record, Quote to Cash, Source to Pay, Acquire to Retire, and Plan to Deliver
  • Be a subject matter expert in one or more of the above referenced processes
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry, a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in the MS Office suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of Salesforce platform is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives, effectively set priorities, manage multiple tasks, deadlines and dependencies, and produce quality work while dealing with interruptions
  • Attention to detail and highly effective planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to work effectively across the Company's various business units and locations
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise judgment in fast paced and changing environment
  • Ability to solve varied and complex problems and implement solutions

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with the end users to streamline and make their processes more efficient, by leveraging the following approaches:
    • Streamline end user files by utilizing complex formulas, Oracle GL and Subledger reporting, Salesforce/Workday reports, etc.
    • Build/maintain complex macros to automate routine end user activities
    • Work with Oracle, Salesforce, Workday, and other system support teams (internal and external) to implement reporting and integrations which aids in process efficiencies
    • Identify and eliminate and/or streamline non value added activities currently being performed
    • Work with the internal teams to review current policies for changes that could assist in driving process efficiencies without negatively impacting results
    • Develop brand new processes where needed

Base pay range: $110,400- $184,000, commensurate with experience
