Accounting Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Global Accounting team. In this role, you will help the team organize and execute seamless changes and improvements across Jane Street’s broader Accounting department. This is a new position at the firm and a crucial one as the Accounting team continues to grow. 

This role requires strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities will be necessary to collaborate across a wide range of teams at Jane Street — including Operations, Tech, Tax, and Legal and Institutional Services — as well as with external entities and partners, to make sure each project is delivered on time and is up to par with our team’s standards. The projects you’ll help manage will vary, from more technical (helping to better utilize our ERP) to conceptual (helping to revamp our internal processes). 

You’ll draw from your accounting background on a daily basis, leading projects through their entire lifecycle, including defining goals, organizing and developing timelines, tracking milestones, managing time, identifying risks, and coordinating with related teams. While we’re open to candidates of varying backgrounds, an accounting framework will be necessary to understand how all the pieces fit together.

The person in this role needs to be an analytical, organized, and strategic thinker who considers the goals of the group and project when solving problems. We’re looking for someone excited by having a sense of ownership over their work and expertise, who cannot just execute a task, but think critically and intuitively about the best way to reach a solution.

• 8+ years of experience within accounting or an accounting-adjacent function
• Experience managing projects across groups; ability to collaborate with stakeholders with different needs and interests
• Experience with project management planning tools (i.e., Jira, spreadsheets)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Can identify bottlenecks in current processes and brainstorm solutions; motivated to improve processes where possible
• Strategic thinker who values long-term planning
• Able to think big-picture while at the same time getting the details right
• Fluent in English
