This is a great opportunity to be a valued business partner responsible for the overall satisfaction and coordination of services for a particular group of clients. This role will also serve as the main Point of Contact for any operational or escalation-related matters. The Accounting Specialist will align closely with fellow Baker Tilly professionals across multiple service lines in architecting value for the business, and its stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Baker Tilly US, LLP is seeking to add an Accounting Specialist to join our growing tax practice in Tysons, VA. Our team is searching for a highly motivated individual to assist with the day-to-day responsibilities of our tax compliance and advisory practice. This role will work closely with clients and tax professionals with a focus on increasing efficiencies by using firm's tools and technologies.

What you will do:

    • Be a trusted member of the engagement team, providing opportunities to improve efficiencies
    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and participate in the execution of tax strategies
    • Manage client's data requests against an agreed upon timeline, following up on missing materials, uploading information to our firm's technology tools, and other general client service duties as needed
    • Support the growth and development of team members through Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in accounting. Associate's degree in a business related field preferred but not required
  • Public accounting and/or tax compliance preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles related to classifying, recording, and summarizing data and making computations to compile and keep financial records.
  • Computer skills and knowledge, including typing, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A desire to work independently with clients, and QuickBooks advisory skills are a plus.
  • Experience with 10-key calculator and other standard office machines. Accounting software experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize work flow and coordinate activities as needed, as well as communicate effectively with others and work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Ability to work limited overtime and weekends as needed.
