Accounting Specialist
Job Description
Job Summary: Administer operational and accounting aspects of assigned reinsurance accounts, including premium and loss activity, cash settlement, premium and claims payments to clients and markets, account reconciliation and clearing, reporting.
Essential Functions:
1.Responsible for daily monitoring of fiduciary bank accounts for incoming deposits.
2.Apply incoming cash to the appropriate ledger, allocate/clear the appropriate transactions and file/save backup accordingly.
3.Analyze and determine the cash position of various markets as needed to determine if a collection request is needed, or if a client payment can be executed.
4.Create and send collection statements to markets.
5.Resolve billing discrepancies, unpaid items and reconciliation problems timely to ensure positive cash positions with carrier markets at all times.
6.Create payments to clients on a regularly set schedule, allocate these payments, send payment statement/summary to client and file/save backup accordingly.

8.Create payments to our operational account for revenue on regular set schedule, allocate these payments, and file/save backup accordingly.
9.Work closely and correspond regularly with the Accounting and Claims team regarding the status of accounts.
10.Responsible for month-end closing activity including report generation and distribution on automated accounting system.
11.Research and resolve unapplied cash in a timely manner. Gain approval from Accounting Manager for exceptions.
12.Send payment notification to markets/client with supporting documentation (Closing Advice from OT and proof of wire transfer)
13.Responsible for Account Receivable. Send clients/markets reminder for payment due date.
Requirements:
1.Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent education/experience.
2.Insurance industry experience preferred.
3.Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with general understanding of accounting concepts and procedures.
4.High degree of professional communication, client service and tactful negotiation skills with the personal presence to interface with all levels of associates.
5.Able to prioritize heavy, time sensitive workloads with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
6.Proficient in MS Excel required; MS Word experience a plus.
7. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
