Under general supervision, performs non-repetitive, clerical accounting duties which require familiarity with accounting office practices and procedures, and knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
  • Accountable for analyzing and verifying accounting documents for internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy; makes adjustments.
  • Assigns prescribed accounting distribution codes.
  • Posts registers or subsidiary ledgers.
  • Accountable for performing account reconciliations. Troubleshoots and analyzes discrepancies. Traces transactions through previous accounting actions to determine source of discrepancies.
  • Collaborates to provide assistance to other staff.
  • May participate in trading activities with fund managers.
  • May pursue collection of past due receivables and escalate delinquent issues to manager with recommendations for action.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to perform basic office or accounting duties (e.g., journal entries, data input)
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office Suite and other business related software.
  • Ability to follow procedures and direction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acts with an appropriate sense of urgency to process information in a timely and accurate manner.

Education and Experience
  • An Associate's Degree (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program.
  • Typically a minimum one to two years related work experience.
