GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Accounting Suspense Analyst analyzes outstanding items in suspense accounts and based on research determines what needs to be done in the policy administration system or in the general ledger to fully process the transaction.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or other related field of study; plus three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Annuity or insurance accounting experience a plus.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Accounting Suspense Analyst analyzes outstanding items in suspense accounts and based on research determines what needs to be done in the policy administration system or in the general ledger to fully process the transaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigates suspense items that are not clearing and determines the fix for the item.
- Monitors suspense account items on a recurring basis; researches and validates against policies and controls.
- Helps to ensure an adequate internal control system remains in place to ensure financial statements are accurate.
- Works with teams internally to ensure that clearing of suspense accounts is done appropriately in accordance with current procedures.
- Analyzes issues to determine if changes are needed in the policy administration system or if it is an isolated incident.
- Communicates with Information Technology regarding system enhancements identified as result of suspense research to prevent future processing issues.
- Actively participates in identifying ways to automate current processes to increase efficiencies and controls in policy administration.
- Reconciles subledgers from our policy management system to the general ledger.
- Assists in the development of management reports and monthly reconciliation reports.
- Works with financial reporting on coordinating and preparing supporting documentation for annual audit reports.
- Performs other related work as required.

- Understanding of DTCC or Policy admin systems a plus.
- Ability to layout the process or accounting flow and compare what did happen to what should have happened with the transaction.
