Accounting Systems Accountant
Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining accounting systems which includes reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling financial data to ensure accurate integrations and reporting. This position is also responsible for maintaining configurations within the accounting system, as well as reviewing new features and providing recommendations on what to uptake. Other responsibilities include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and researching system issues impacting accounting details. Participation in both departmental and cross-divisional teams will be required along with the assignment of special projects impacting finance. Department activities/functions will need to be reviewed to ensure adequate internal control procedures are in place, and job procedures will need to be maintained and kept up to date. Self-initiated training and education of the Workday system will also be required.

Essential Functions
- Set goals, performance levels, and procedures within the area.
- Monitors and recommends changes in policies/programs to management.
- Research and analyze financial data.
- Ability to perform research to ensure the company is compliant with accounting and regulatory guidelines and policies.
- Work with Information Services personnel to resolve discrepancies and implement system enhancements.
- Serves as financial expert for other corporate teams.
- Research, develop, and recommend future financial system enhancements.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions without leadership direction.
- Participate with the department's self-managed team environment.
- Maintain current policies and job procedures for specific job tasks.
- Responsible for accurate and timely completion of account reconciliations.
- Complete journal entries for accurate financial reporting.
- Stay abreast of current functionality of the financial systems (Workday & Checkfree).
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function as defined by policy.
- Must comply with and implement corporate information security policies, standards, and guidelines relative to access control.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Management Information Systems is required.
Experience
The candidate will be hired as either a Staff Accountant or Financial Analyst.
- Staff Accountant level requires 0-3 years of experience.
- Financial Analyst level requires a minimum of 3+ years of experience and demonstrates an advanced level of accounting skills.
Skills
- High degree of human relation skills.
- Ability to communicate with all organizational levels and external contacts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is preferred.
- Ability to analyze financial statements.
Compensation
BCBSKS Grade: Exempt 14
Minimum hourly rate starting at $60,880
