Accounts Receivable Accountant

We are constantly on a mission to add smart, innovative and fun-loving team members, and are looking for an Accounts Receivable Accountant to come join our New York based headquarters. Our HQ Office is located in Lower Manhattan and our teams are on-site 3 days per week.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the AR Accountant will have a strong attention to detail, a flexible attitude, and a willingness to work with our wholesale customers on outstanding receivables, refunds, and chargebacks. As Tommy John continues to grow, this individual will assist the Finance team with multiple initiatives, primarily in Sales and Accounts Receivable but also in other accounting-related areas when needed.
 

Responsibilities:

• Perform day to day financial tasks, including verifying, classifying, and posting sales and accounts receivable transactions
• Calculate and track payment of sales commissions for independent contractors
• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting wholesale customers via email and phone
• Properly record and apply cash, checks, and credit card receipts to outstanding invoices
• Resolve valid or invalid deductions and chargebacks in collaboration with the Sales and Operations department
• Prepare and provide monthly reconciliation reports for the month-end close process
• Provide general accounting support to the Finance team

Experience, Skills, & Attributes:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance
• Minimum 3 years of self-managed accounts receivable and general accounting experience, preferably with a mid to large retail company
• Demonstrates alignment with TJ core values: Humble, Adaptable, Mindful, GSD, & Curious
• Previous collections experience with major department stores preferred but not required
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and fair credit practices
• Proficiency in MS Office and general ERP experience. Netsuite experience is a plus
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to operate with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to be on-site in our HQ Office in Lower Manhattan 3 days per week

Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 annually
