Accounts Receivable Operations Specialist

The Accounts Receivable Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day billing management and monitoring of accounts for Benefit Consultants Group (BCG). This position will have direct responsibility for the collection and account aging process for BCG. Additional responsibilities include invoicing clients, support billing inquiries, review account discrepancies and support collection efforts. In addition, the position will perform daily processing, tracking, and recording of payments and/or credits in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner while complying with controls and accounting practices.

Responsibilities and Objectives 

•            Direct oversight of collection/aging process to ensure timely client account notification and settlement.§  Review of existing collection/aging procedures and identify process improvement opportunities.
•            Prepare monthly dashboard on collection/aging status with ability to drill down to account specifics. 
• Prepare and perform daily billing processing to keep organization on track, on time and on good terms with our valued clients and partners
• Review new client paperwork for completeness, assignment of billing cycle and fee schedule alignment with billing instructions  
• Prepare and send invoices/statements utilizing fee schedules, billable items, third-party administrator, and service/plan termination documents
• Successfully process incoming payments, issued credits, and perform account reconciliation 
• Daily review and execution of established workflow processes supporting account updates and/or billing changes
• Routine review, maintenance, and monitoring of accounts to ensure timely cyclical billing.
• Prepare monthly reports in support of specialized account billing (i.e., distribution fees, rebates, etc.)  
• Review, research and provide detailed resolution to all billing inquiries and/or requests
• Perform required monthly balancing and accounting close processes
• Assist in preparation of monthly accrual and payment tracking processes
• Communicate discrepancies to management in a timely manner
• Perform and/or assist in special assignments as requested  
• Interacts in a cooperative and professional manner with all internal and external stakeholders  

Required and Preferred Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
• Three to four years successful work experience in an accounts receivable area desired or equivalent operations/office work experience required
• Familiarity with Lawson (Infor), SAGE 100 and Workday preferred
• Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
• Strong Microsoft Office skills in particular Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong mathematical skills
• Superb time management, highly detail oriented and self-starter
• Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently depending on the task/assignment  
• Must be able to work additional/overtime hours as necessary
