Accounts Receivable Specialist

Montage is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our growing team. Qualified candidates will have the detail orientation, knowledge, and experience to support both agency and programmatic needs within our accounting and finance team.
This is a full-time, exempt position working a hybrid schedule at Montage’s McLean, VA and Rockville, MD offices, and the employee’s home office. The anticipated annual salary for this position is $48,000 – $55,000.

About the Role
We are seeking an Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to work in partnership with our staff accountant to ensure the integrity of our accounting processes and procedures within Montage Marketing Group. The AR Specialist will be proactive in managing the full accounts receivable cycle for multiple entities, use their skills to process expense reports and client invoices, all while maintaining a high-quality standard of work and accuracy.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience as an Accounts Receivable Specialist or similar accounting role
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
- Advanced knowledge of database and spreadsheet tools such as Excel and accounting software (experience with Unanet preferred)
Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts receivable function by preparing, posting, verifying, and recording customer payments and transactions
- Process customer payments and deposits in compliance with company procedures
- Assist with client billing at End-of-Month (EOM) and preparing invoices
- Pull and analyze AR aging report and follow up on any past due receivables
- Research and resolve any discrepancies
- Reconcile the AR ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and posted
- Maintain and update customer files, including name or address changes
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Strong data entry skills
- Proficiency with MS Office; expert proficiency with Excel
- Understanding of accounting software (Unanet experience preferred)
- Exceptional customer service (negotiation skills preferred)
