Job Title: Actuarial Analyst 1 or 2 (Hybrid)

Introduction:

Safe-Guard's actuarial team is expanding and looking for a new Actuarial Analyst to join our Reserving team. Safe-Guard is the leading provider of automotive warranties in North America, providing automotive warranty to a wide variety of clients including: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, GM, and many more.

As a Reserving actuary at Safe-Guard, your responsibilities will include core actuarial responsibilities, such as modeling the future claim/refund liabilities Safe-Guard assumes from selling its warranties. In addition to these core actuarial activities, you will also have an opportunity to engage with our business team and clients, via responsibilities that include managing incentive programs and advising on the financial impact of different segments of business.

Safe-Guard's actuarial team work's side-by-side with our business team. At Safe-Guard you will have an opportunity to expand both your actuarial and business expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Calculate required liability for Safe-Guard's automotive warranty book.
  • Manage profit shares with Safe-Guard's partners. Profit shares are incentive programs that encourage Safe-Guard's partners to sell profitable business by allowing partners to participate in insurance profits.
  • Calculate and present dealer walkaways, a service whereby Safe-Guard assumes a dealerships warranty liability in exchange for a pre-negotiated price.
  • Responsible for several data-oriented reporting processes, including sending contract and claim data to Safe-Guard's insurance partners.
  • Collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including: Accounting, Finance, Sales, Claims, Underwriting, and external partners.

Job Qualification:

  • B.S. or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent
  • 0-4 years of actuarial experience
  • Successful completion of two or more actuarial exams
  • Experience working in SQL
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have high degree of comfort working in Excel.
  • Experience in Tableau is a plus.
